As the artist's graduation project, this zine is a development of her curation project Not Written until Now: women in Algerian Independent War. 

 

With a decolonial and feminist lens, Chen looks into images featuring Algerian women in Orientalism paintings, photography on postcards, and propaganda posters produced when Algeria was under French colonial rule, presenting the intersection of colonial and misogynous ideology hidden behind the images.

 

A converstaion with Algerian female artist and photographer Nadja Makholouf added more dimensions on this topic, with 2 collage postcards as the artist's response and reflection on the colonial postacrds circulating in France around 1890s.
