ARTIST STATEMENT
Millie Chen is an early-career visual artist dedicated in expressing her thoughts and ask questions through mixed media work.
Having lived in China and now living in the UK, Chen’s works focus on the shifting identity, immigrant trauma, and modern life crises.
Chen believes in the power and flexibility of image and textual materials that already exist, and the power of common objects in the mundane life. By reconstructing them, new narratives and connections are shaped with twists. When creating a work, she often starts from her own daily experience, and turns to her own vintage magazine collection, sometimes objects at home or in the street, for an artistic solution.
